Signature's "one writer/one season" programming is only the beginning of realizing our mission of honoring and celebrating the playwright and individual artist.
Signature Center will allow us to implement our long-term vision of providing an artistic home to an even greater number of writers through three distinct programs.
RESIDENCY ONE
Signature's original groundbreaking Playwright-in-Residence program was established twenty years ago to offer a writer unprecedented freedom and support, and gives the audience the rich, in-depth experience of an accomplished artist's entire body of work.

LEGACY PROGRAM
Launched in celebration of Signature's 10th anniversary, the Legacy Program invites back past Playwrights-in-Residence in subsequent seasons to present revivals in the Signature Series, which presents 'signature' or more well-known works, or new works in the Premiere Series, which presents exclusive New York and world premieres.

RESIDENCY FIVE
Signature's newest and most innovative program will give less established writers an extended artistic home and will also provide the rare opportunity to build a body of work through three full productions over the course of their five year residency.
