See the Center Come to Life: The Lobby

August 9th 2010
From Left to Right: Concierge Desk, Cafe, and Bookstore

The most memorable elements of Signature Center are its three, distinct theatres all on one level, but what defines the Center – and serves as a fourth venue – is the central, contiguous lobby. This lobby is designed as a space where artists and audience will come together.  In fact, every actor, crew member, playwright, patron, and visitor will pass through this dynamic space.

Featuring a cafe, bookstore, concierge desk, and plenty of seating, the lobby encourages the creation of a vibrant theatre-going community at each and every event.  Whether discussing productions over coffee, perusing plays at the bookstore, or waiting for the house to open, the lobby is the place to meet and mingle, exchanging ideas and information about what is happening at the Center and around the city.

Look below to see images of the lobby as it stands today juxtaposed against model images that evoke the lobby experience upon doors open at the Signature Center.

The size of the lobby, approximately 5500 square feet, is contextualized as over 600 construction workers fill the space for a celebratory lunch.
