The most memorable elements of the Signature Center are its three, distinct theatres all on one level, but what defines the center – and serves as a fourth venue – is the central, contiguous lobby. This lobby is designed as a space where artists and audience will come together.  In fact, every actor, crew member, playwright, patron, and visitor will pass through this dynamic space.

Construction Well Underway!

Construction is well underway for the future home of the Signature Center, which will anchor a large-scale mixed used building on 42nd street between 10th and Dyer Avenues.  The core and shell for the Center is nearly completed and fit-out construction of the space is scheduled to begin in August/September 2010.
 

Frank Gehry Shows Center Models

Recently Signature invited some friends of the Company to experience Gehry's models first hand.  The evening took place in a specially constructed room where guests were able to view the models up close.  In addition, descriptions of the theatres and detailed floor plans lined the walls.  The highlight of the evening was an appearance by Gehry himself who made a few remarks on this groundbreaking project.

The Signature Center is entered from the sidewalk on 42nd Street, as shown on the right of this image, under a glass canopy that will protect patrons from the elements and identify the Center with signage.  This sculptural design element will give the Center a strong presence and sense of arrival.  The street level lobby is compact and visually dominated by a plywood clad stairway that will lead to a gracious upper lobby and then to the three theatres.  The box office is set within the for

Signature Gala Celebrates Frank Gehry and the Signature Center

On March 1, 2010, Signature held its Annual Gala. This year's gala honored world-renowned architect Frank Gehry, the designer of the Signature Center.  Mr. Gehry's achievements in the field of architecture and his groundbreaking vision for the Signature Center were the centerpiece of the evening's presentations.
